Palin's Resignation: Vanity Fair's edited version
Nice work Vanity Fair. They've published a revised version of Sarah Palin's resignation speech, tidying it up with the famous red pen. Fantastic piece of copy for all pedants such as myself, but this has opened up a whole new world to me. I've been known to wield the red pen on many an occasion (colleagues, you know who you are), but I've missed out on using the mighty green effect. Might have to give green a try :-)
On a slightly more serious note, it conveys the difference between the spoken and written word. Seeing that copy at-large on the page is cringeworthy (the unedited edition, obviously), and emphasises how important it is to pay attention to what's written online (via twitter, blog, website etc). If you run a website and copy is not your thing, then pay someone to do it professionally; it's money well spent. Unless you're in the graffiti t-shirt industry, poor grammar and communication will only be to the detriment of your business.
Maybe I should send Sarah a link to Copyblogger?
